One of our Torre brides, Raea, spoke to us about her experience with Your Portugal Wedding Planner.
What made you decide on a destination wedding, and why Portugal?
We always wanted to get married abroad, the idea of sunshine, an extended break and something different just always appealed to us! As my husband is of Portuguese heritage, it was always going to be Portugal where we dreamed of, we just didn’t know whereabouts!
How did you find the venue and why was it the perfect venue for you?
You guys actually found Torre for us, it genuinely was perfect. It had the rustic/chic look we were after, whilst being modern and of a high spec, and it had the intimate feeling we were looking for, despite being able to host a good number of people! The setting in the vineyards was so idyllic and private and without you guys, I don’t think we would ever have found it!
How did you find the planning process? A lot of brides find planning stressful, do you believe a destination wedding is different?
I LOVED planning our wedding. I thrive off organising stuff and found the whole process so exciting! Having said that, I’m not sure I’d have felt that way if I didn’t have wedding planners! Someone who had the answers to all our questions, worked with amazing companies, and handled all the communication. The only difference I found, was getting a marriage licence in a foreign country - that was a little bit tricky. Ensuring we had all the right paperwork was a challenge - but that was out of anyone’s hands, and we got there in the end. It’s something I don’t think would be a problem for other brides going forward!
People say that your wedding day is the best day of your life, is this true?
Yes! There are rarely times in your life where you have everyone single person you both love in on place, but your wedding day is one of them! It’s like nothing else you’ll experience in your life and I wish I could experience it for the first time, 10 times over. We have such precious memories and often talk about the day! Thankfully we have our incredible pictures and video to look back on!
What were the stand out moments from your wedding day?
If I had to pick, I loved our post ceremony cocktails and dancing, the speeches, the cut of the cake and the preview edit of our wedding video! Something I’ve only ever seen done once before! Everyone loved that and wasn’t expecting it!
Did you find it beneficial to have a wedding planner?
1000% I wouldn’t have even known where to start! There’s definitely things I’d never have thought of doing which made the day what it was! Also having someone handle the logistics throughout the planning process, and on the day was invaluable! It meant we could just enjoy everything without a stress!
